My name is Carissa and I'm 24 years old. I bought my first camera with my 2020 income tax check at the start of the pandemic. I would bring my camera everywhere with me and take pictures of family and friends. I aspired to shoot concerts and did my first show in 2021!

Now, I still shoot concerts, but I've found a love for content creation and portrait photography.

I’m the kind of person that loves to see people smile.

My marketing career

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BBA in Marketing, December of 2019. I had the pleasure of working with a local non-profit resale store creating content and managing social media accounts. I learned so much during my time there while continuing to grow as a photographer. Eventually, after many jobs that failed to push me creatively, I finally decided to start my own business. Today, I am managing the social media marketing for a local brewery in Houston, Texas called City Orchard, while helping other local businesses create content for their social media.

btw... I LOVE MY DOG

This is my doggo Zayla. I named her after my favorite flower, azaleas. She's 11 years old and is probably fed up with the matching outfits, but I know she loves me. She likes to snack on peanut butter, carrots, and whatever falls from the table. She's not the best guard dog, but she will bark at any sign of unusual movement. Best of all, she likes to cuddle!

Did I mention I shoot concerts?

Glass Animals

White Oak Music Hall

Houston, TX

This was the first big concert I shot. I was super nervous because I had just gotten a new camera and I barley knew how to use it. Also, I had never been in a photo pit before that night; I had no idea what to expect. The pictures from this concert ended up being my favorite till this day.

Portugal. The Man

White Oak Music Hall

Houston, TX

I cant leave a concert without getting a stage shot. The lawn at White Oak is definitely one of my favorites! This concert was very exciting for me because I had been listening to Portugal. The Man since high school. it was such an amazing experience getting to see them live, but also getting to take pictures of them. What more could I ask for?

Khruangbin

713 Music Hall

Houston, TX

This concert was very special and also very scary for me. It was my very first time shooting for a music publication, but I had only heard the bands music a few days prior to the show. I was originally going to see and shoot the opener, Toro Y Moi, but members of the band got covid and could not perform. I still went to the show though. I wasn't going to let the opportunity pass. You can actually read the review I ended up writing for HTX VOX down below :)
